Apache Pride

So my morning of TV viewing consisted of watching yesterday's US Figure Skating Championships. I cried during Kimmie Meisner's falls, since I've been a fan of hers since she won last year's Nationals. She hasn't been doing well this season, and now the only reason she's going to Worlds this year is because the other skaters are too young. I just felt really bad for her, and I hope that she can get herself together for the world stage.

Then I was proud again. I'll always be a fan of Kimmie's, but now I also love the newest US Champion: Mirai Nagasu. She caught my attention the other day when she won the short program, but it was the fact that she's a student at my alma mater that made me really take notice. She was amazing, dancing like a little doll, and landing jump after jump. I look forward to the day that I see her around town, so that I can tell her how awesome she is.

Congratulations, Mirai! Go get 'em at Junior Worlds, my fellow Apache!

Oh, and whoa....what drama during the men's competition! I would rather that Johnny Weir had won, but rules are rules, and when you tie for the total, it's the free skate score that breaks the tie. I just wish that Evan had been cleaner, so that I could agree more with the judges.

There I go again, with my Old School opinions. Don't even get me started on the drum corps thing today.

OMG, I'm spazzing out!

Way back in the wayback machine, my first 5-guy band loyalty was born.

No, it wasn't Rockapella. My heart belonged to Jordan and his buddies Joey, Donnie, Danny and Jonathan. Then they went away, and my love for Rockapella bloomed...and has become, yes, quite the monster.

But I'll never forget those days, nor will I forget my cohort, Mercedes. Where are you now, Merc? We need to spaz out together, you know.

Here's what's got me going this morning (thanks for the heads up, Cindy!):

Mango Mojito Moments

Post-Party Thoughts

Note to self: get a print of picture with Dad and include it in the new collage. He felt left out of that thing. I swear I didn't do it on purpose!

Instead of Snow White Hell, I was just a Crust for a long time, which made Ferdie stay longer...so maybe that was a good thing.

Whomever fixed my stereo door, thanks!

I wish it had been warmer so the kids could have stayed outside longer.

We need to have poker nights, because, like, I have a fancy set and everything now.

I miss my screen door, V...but if that was the birthday curse for the year, then it's OK.

Thank God the pipes held up, and we didn't have a repeat of the housewarming party!

There is way too much food leftover. Anyone want some pancit, or rice? My refrigerator is completely full.

I really like mango mojitos. Thanks, Jenn, for being my personal bartender.

I hope that everyone had fun. I know I did, and I really am blessed to have all of these great people in my life that give me the gift of laughter.

Thank you, everyone. My joy today is knowing that you have touched my life in your own special ways. A big, sappy, teary smile is on my face right now.

Maybe it's the mojito effect. ;)

I Guess I'm Not As Anonymous As I Thought

So last night, I went to a local Filipino fast food place to check out their food for possible catering. The woman at one of the booths kinda stared at me as soon as I got out of the car, and when her husband took my order, I heard him say to her, "Holy Angels." It turns out that she had recognized me from church, which was funny because I kept looking at the guy and thinking to myself, "I know him from somewhere...where is it?" Well, they attend the mass that I cantor every Saturday night, and I think he serves communion. I then realized that their 9am - 3pm hours of operation for Saturdays must be due to the fact that they go to church on Saturday, since they serve breakfast in the morning. Note to self: try out their breakfast one weekend, because their food was tasty: http://www.jojosfilipino.samsbiz.com/

Today, I called them to place my catering order. The gentleman whom took my order asked, "You've been here before, right? Your voice sounds familiar." I told him that I was there last night, but he didn't remember until I told him where I sing.

I guess my voice gets familiar to people when they hear it every week. Maybe they're actually paying attention!

A Nice Day

As much as I can stress out about some issues at work, there are days that make me really glad that I work there. Today was one of those days.

First of all, the boss wasn't there, which is always nice no matter where you work.

My team members threw a surprise birthday lunch for me! One of them made 3 different Filipino dishes, another made a yummy carrot cake, and the others brought good food as well. They even decorated the table and gave me a little "Princess" party crown ... and didn't make me wear it, which gave them points. I did end up wearing it briefly for a picture for one of my managers, but that's OK.

I really like my team ... which means that the powers will probably take me out of there as soon as they can. ;)

Of course, now I'll be gone for two days, so the team will have bliss without me bugging them for awhile, too.

A New Blue Stars Fan is Born

How can I not admire an organization that proposes a 15-point penalty for use of narration in a show, and a 25-point penalty for use of amplification?

If you're a drum corps fan like me, the last 2 proposals listed on this page are a beauty to behold.

http://www.dci.org/rules/

Oh, and the reps from the other drum corps that keep proposing more and more crap to change the activity into something completely unrecognizable to the Drum Corps vets: shove off, already. Or at least make your proposals professional, and not written like an IM exchange. Gads.

Weird Dreams Lately...

...like that I was one of Jackie Chan's daughters and we were helping fight a couple of evil bitches who tried to kill all of us.

I've forgotten the other two, but that's the one that was the most prominent.

I guess all that matters is that I kicked some serious ass. ;)

Time and a Half

I just think that if you're getting paid 150%, then you should actually put in 150% effort. Is that too much to ask for?

Oh, and get your own damn coffee.

I did....and STILL gave the 150%.

I Resolve To...

I've realized over the holiday season that there are some people who've been really important to me in my life, yet I don't really see them more than once or twice a year, if that much, and I've really missed them.

So my resolution this year is to see those people more, at least once a quarter.

So, Mich, the college roomies, and the family, be prepared! I'm going to make time to spend with you, and I hope that you can spare the time, too.
