Congratulations, Ansun (last word spelled "feuilleton") and Sriram (last word spelled "stichomythia")!

II spelled "corpsbruder" correctly, which was missed by one of the kids.  Also, I got the food words and music words correct (yes, you can see what's important to me)..  But I would have failed miserably at a lot of those other ones (I did get Ansun's word right, though!).

Godzilla is BIG, and not just in Japan

Linda, Mox and I had brunch at Nano Cafe before Linda and I went to the theater to watch "Godzilla" (Mox had already seen it this weekend).  I don't know how I lost my ticket within 10 minutes after I purchased it, but I did.  Luckily for me, I had the receipt that shows my reward points, so the nice lady whom originally sold the ticket for me was able to get me in.  Thanks, Rene!

• I'm going to need to freeze frame those opening credits when I watch this on TV, because I want to read what they blacked out.
• Nobody says "Gojira" like Ken Watanabe.
• Philippines!  My homeland!  I translated in my head what all the workers were yelling to each other.  I only told Linda the funniest one:  "Baho! Baho!"  They were warning the others that it smelled bad down in the cavern.  
• Bats!  Kinda.  Echolocation and wings.
• Did you see that "Mothra" signage?  I did.
• Gojira's foot stomping down outside the storefront made me think of "Bambi Meets Godzilla".
• "Look, Mommy!  Dinosaurs!"
• When the female MUTO walks over Ford with those eggs all sloshing around:  GROSS.
• Sher:  "You need to do something about those."
• Aw, it's like "Lady and the Tramp", except with a bomb instead of spaghetti.
• DRIVE that bus, dude!  Go!
• Gojira breathes blue fire.  I like the way his scales light up as he gets ready to do that.
• The arrogance of man is thinking nature is in our control, and not the other way around."

See it on the big screen.  I wish I had seen this in IMAX.

I need to catch up on my summer blockbuster viewing.  Today, I wanted some company to watch "X-Men: Days of Future Past", and Cindy and Glenn were going to see the same movie today anyway, so they agreed to join me, and so did Mox, so fun happened.  Cindy, Glenn and I went to a pub for a late lunch first, and I wished that I liked beer because a cold beer sounded really good at the time.  Then I remembered that I don't like the taste of beer.  So that didn't happen.  

• Hello, Hugh Jackman's bare butt!  Nice to see you in 3D today.
• "Come on, Beastie!"
• Stitching up your own scalp is gross.
• Magneto shooing people away = The Force
• Yay--time travel!
• The "Time In A Bottle" scene was way cool.
• I thought that Anna Paquin had a good agent.  There she was, one of the actors with top billing, and I didn't see her for more than 30 seconds.  Also, I don't remember her talking at all.  But I guess she had a big scene that was cut.
• Dude, those sentinels were merciless when they killed the mutants.
• Whoa.  JFK.  Bent bullet.  
• When I become a millionaire, I want to have my own jet and pilot.
• I want Blink's teleporting powers.
• Got teary.  Twice.

This is probably my favorite of the X-Men movies.  Too bad I don't have time to see it again while it's still on the big screen.  Got those other movies to watch.

Beyond the Machine

Lori was on Spring Break, and I had the afternoon off of work, so we went to watch Johnny Depp in "Transcendence."

• I prefer to see Johnny Depp with hair.
• Interesting concept.  I wonder how frighteningly close we actually are to having AI with actual emotions.  You just know that we're not being told about it yet.
• Creepy how Will's minions would talk to his friends with Will's voice.
• We were wondering how he poured the wine and made dinner for her, then realized that it must have been the woman that was helping serve at the end, when Will was making the dinner plate sounds.
• If copper blocks satellite/cell phone signals, does that mean that a house with copper piping has a natural block from clear signal coverage?
• That lecture hall is actually the Valley Performing Arts Center on the Cal State Northridge campus.  I saw Bernadette Peters there.  I even saw the place where I sat!  
• Cinematography was great.  I liked the visual effects of the different bits rising through the air.
• "We can save him."  Please do!
• Ah, AI can love humans!
