Rockapella in Henderson
Travel Day

Henderson, NV
The day Rockapella announced that they would be in Henderson, Nevada, only a state away, I stopped thinking about going to Florida to see their holiday show, and scheduled time off. Wendy said that she could add it on to her Thanksgiving trip to see her mom. Bro was in for a bit, but then had other stuff going on. He was still helpful, though, and found something on the internet about Rockapella being a part of a Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. Because Rockapella's site just said "TBD" as the location and time, which was annoying for those of us from out of town and needing to make travel plans. I didn't want to fly in on the same day as the show because I don't like that kind of travel anxiety. I also didn't feel like driving. We decided to fly in the day before the show, and also leave some time for us to experience Las Vegas for a bit.
I picked up Wendy at her mom's house, and it was soooo good to get a hug from her! I've missed my Wendy Girl a lot since she and JeffEvs moved to Tennessee. It's been way too long since our last Rockapella Road Trip together. She had a big piece of luggage due to being in town for a while and going shopping with her mom, and she hoped that it would weigh below the 50-lb limit. I offered to put some of her stuff in my bag, but no need. She made it! We got something to eat at Einstein Bros. Wendy texted JeffEvs to tell him we were eating, and he asked if it was at Einstein Bros. So either he has her phone on some kind of airtag/find my phone thing, or he just really knows her well. I'm guessing the latter.
We ate our dinner in the gate area, and saw that there weren't a lot of people around. It turns out that the flight was so not full that we were asked to spread out to balance out the weight of the plane. So maybe Wendy could have put more in her bag? Wendy and I had our own rows! Well, I shared with Scotcherbreadman.

Scotcherbreadman also had room. |
I'm glad we sat on the right side of the plane so that we could take photos of the strip while on the tarmac.

The airport has changed a bit since I last landed there, and there was also some construction going on in the lobby. Also, there were a lot of people wearing cowboy hats because the rodeo was in town. In fact, I was going to get us a hotel room at the same place as the rodeo, but the prices were astronomical for Friday night, so NO. That's OK, because the one we found was quite nice. We called for a Lyft, and it took less than half an hour for us to arrive at the Atwell Suites. I don't know why he didn't drop us off at the actual front door. It was, like, "Oh, there's a door. I'll drop you off here." Dude, that is not the FRONT. The front door would be double doors or automatic, and you would see the lobby from the outside. But I didn't care. I just wanted to go rest. The front door was just around the corner from that door, but whatevs. I think I gave him a nice tip anyway because of the holidays, but now that I think about it, I should have given him just a regular one.
While I was checking in to the hotel, Wendy explored the beverage area. They not only had coffee available for 24 hours, but also a soda stream-like machine, and a few flavors to choose from. NICE! We went upstairs to our room to unpack, and saw that it was kind of a weird layout. There was a lot of floor space. We figured out that it must be an ADA accessible room because of the shower chair in the bathroom (also with a lot of floor space) as well as having no carpet, but I hadn't asked for a special room. We were across the street from where rink where the Vegas Knights practice, but Wendy was not down for ice skating with me on Friday night. Something about wanting to hold my purse instead. Something blah blah falling on her ass something. No, she didn't actually say "ass". Wendy is too much of a lady for that. But that's what I heard in my head. Because I'm not that much of a lady. Sometimes.
Before getting into our jammy jams, we went downstairs for some hot tea because we needed to warm up. I think Wendy also got soda because she could. I just wanted something to go with my ube crinkle cookies from a Filipino bakery back in So Cal that I had brought for us. While we were down there, we saw that they had a card game and also a display of Morse Code. We decided that we were in a MouseAdventure Hotel, because our room also had a message in Morse Code in the living room area.

Rancho and Scotcherbreadman |
Yes, Scotcherbreadman has a new friend, Rancho the Reindeer.Someday Wendy will find GingerGeorge, because Scotcher misses his bro. I would put his picture on a milk carton but I don't want anyone to get any ideas and eat him when he's found.
I could not get the TV to work to save my life. I kept getting to the home page that shows the hotel offerings. So I continued to unpack and get ready for bed until Wendy finally figured it out for me. We watched "Friends" episodes before falling asleep.
Next up: Pella Performance Day
